Big Sugar, the Sugar Lobby, is one of the most powerful lobbies in this country. Quite simply put, it’s one sweet lobby.
In August 2011, soon to be the former senior Senator of Indiana, Richard Lugar (R) toured the Gummy Bear factory in Merrillville, Indiana. After his tour, he commented, “Every time Hoosiers see sugar listed as an ingredient on their food labels, they should know that they are paying more than they should because of the federal government’s sugar policy.”
