Have you noticed how the left gets to continue their attacks against Republicans ans Conservatives (often not the same people)? Years, even decades, can go by and the left will continue to accuse them of all sorts of heinous actions, aided and abetted by their willing accomplices in the media. There is no statute of limitations on the left’s accusations, even if they are entirely false.

Their continuing relentless attack against George W. Bush are a case in point. They have gotten endless mileage over the War on Terror by attempting to rewrite history so that low information voters will believe that they are the font of all wisdom while the Republicans and Conservatives were members of the Dark Empire.

Let’s recap what really happened. In 1993, the United States was attacked at the World Trade Center, when a truck bomb was detonated in the basement garage of the North Tower. Six people were killed and 1,042 were injured. The perpetrators were apprehended, tried, convicted and incarcerated. Other than judicial action, there was no response from the Clinton Administration.

In 1996, the Khobar Towers, the headquarters for foreign military personnel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was demolished with a truck bomb. Nineteen servicemen were killed and 498 were wounded. The official June 25, 1996 statement by the United States named members of Hezbollah Al-Hejaz (Party of God in the Hijaz) as responsible. A number of Arab nationals were indicted but were never captured.

In 1998, two United States embassies in the East African capitals of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya were devastated with truck bombs. In total, some 223 were killed and over 4,000 were injured. The Clinton administration, once again seeing it as a crime rather than an act of war, dispatched agents from the FBI to investigate. In all, 21 people were indicted.

It wasn’t until the devastating attacks on 9/11 that the United States government led by George W. Bush responded with military force in Afghanistan and Iraq.  At the time, the America Congress and the American people were clamoring for retaliatory action. No one that I can recall was calling for the FBI to go and arrest Usama Bin Laden.

On September 14, 2001 The U.S Congress passed the Authorization for Use of Military Force authorizing the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the attacks on September 11, 2001. The authorization granted the President the authority to use all “necessary and appropriate force” against those whom he determined “planned, authorized, committed or aided” the September 11th attacks, or who harbored said persons or groups. It was signed by President George W. Bush on September 18, 2001.

Yet today, Bush is accused of starting an illegal war based on the premise that he lied to the American people. Remember the “Bush lied, people died” chant. Then we have the denials by some of the 98 Senators who voted for the resolution that they never voted to attack Iraq when the going got tough. The media, of course. led the chorus of attacks.

Let’s compare that to the recent attack on our Benghazi consulate on September 11, 2012. Four Americans were left to die by an unresponsive Obama administration. Yet, the administration and their allies in the media and the Congress are now saying that it was in the past and there’s no more to say about the attack. This despite the fact that they haven’t yet given the American people the full and complete accounts of the events of that night.

On the one hand the right is constantly being beaten over defending American soil with a military response while the left is let off with no consequence for the Obama administration’s lack of action. Of course, the statute of limitations for the left has expired while the statute of limitations for the right will last from now until the ending of the world.
