The administration has moved forward with a new biofuels “Green Energy” initiative by the Department of Defense, nicknamed the “Great Green Fleet”, despite the failure of Obama’s “Green Energy” initiatives and the subsequent bankruptcy of a number of the companies.
The department was moving forward with the “Great Green Fleet” initiative that was characterized by Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Navy Secretary Ray Mabus as an effort to support the emerging biofuels industry. They had planned to use alternative fuels that would cost in the area of $26 per gallon, starting with fleet exercises in 2016. READ MORE
