We all know that unemployment is the major problem that this country faces now and in the future. So, it stands to reason that the federal government would offer job training for the unemployed. But in true government fashion, we have 47 different job training programs embedded in the federal bureaucracy.

According to a report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), that’s exactly what we’re paying for. And it’s costing $18 billion in taxpayer money is get it. The 2011 report, commissioned by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK), gives us a picture of 47 overlapping programs administered by 9 different agencoies.

According to Coburn, “The vast majority of money we spend in job training doesn’t go to job training, it goes to employ people in those job training federal programs.” READ MORE
